Search engine optimization
Glossary
SEO, Search engine optimization
This process is intended to improve the location of websites on the Internet in “organic” search engine-searches, with relevant keywords.
The process is comprised of an advanced study of keywords, and performance of matches in the site code, in its logic structure and content in order to make it optimal for search engines, while improving external directing connections to the site in order to improve its ranking.
This is a scientific process based on an understanding of the behavior of the various search engines on the one hand, and a creative process based on proper business marketing on the other.

The measure of the “popularity” of a given Internet page. Link popularity is a number that includes the internal and external connections that direct traffic to a specific page on the Internet.
This is among the most important criteria in determining the final ranking of a web page in the search results of a search engine, which operate according to logic stating that there is direct relationship between the number of connections directing traffic to a specific web-page, and the “importance” of the page.
Search engines do not place an identical importance on every connection, but rather on the relevance of the site from which the connection is directed and other criteria.
|
The measure of page ranking by Google which rates every website on a scale from 0-10.
The criteria that is most influential in the ranking of a website is the number of external and internal connections which direct traffic to the site, and their quality.
In the past this measure had a great deal of influence on the results of the final ranking on Google, but over the years its importance is dwindling. There are those who contend that Google purposely does not present up to date figures of page rankings in order to prevent manipulations related to ranking.
It is possible to view “page ranking” through the Google ruler.

Automatic programs that scan web pages by “bouncing” from one connection to another.
All of the major search engines in the world use robots to scan and catalogue the content of websites on the Net operate. These robots are considered friendly programs by website managers since these robots visit their sites and index them as frequently as possible.
